If you decide to apply artificial nails you must remember a few important things:

  • Before making an appointment at the beauty salon you need to remember not to soak the hands (e.g. washing-up, hand washing.
  •
  • Using detergents on that day will prevent the application of artificial nails).
  •
  • The nails should not be bitten or crooked (however, in certain cases it is possible to apply artificial nails after a previous consulting with a manicurist).
  •
  • The nails should not be damaged: fungus and other diseases requiring treatment prevent the application of the artificial nails, and not complying with these requirements may very often cause more harm than good.
  •
  • The artificial nails should not be applied if you take certain medicines as the medicine or the chemical substances in them may affect the nail plate and, at the same time, may cause the artificial nails to fall off.
  •
  • Before the visit to the manicurist in order to apply the artificial nails, you should remove any old nail polish or nail conditioner from your nails; glued-on fake nails that you can buy in almost any pharmacy also make it impossible to apply the artificial nails on the same day.
  •
  • In such a case you should remove the artificial nails and let the nail plate ‘rest’ before applying the artificial ones.

Following this advice lets you avoid any disappointment and problems with the artificial nails falling off. Remember the decision to apply the artificial nails should be conscious and well thought out, the day should be chosen according to the above tips and then you will surely cherish beautiful-looking hands.

Don’t be influenced by your friend’s nice-looking artificial nails and don’t forget that even the best products, glues and methods of application won’t help if you don’t protect your nails from exposure to harmful substances such as bleach.

You should remember that your manicurist is a professional and will know why the artificial nail fell off and will be aware of any other such problems. Being honest with her would surely be beneficial to you, even if only in a financial sense. You should be aware that just as it is important to you, it is also important to your manicurist that you will be satisfied, and therefore any reasonable complaint will be granted (however, any unreasonable complaint will just put you to the expense of the repair and, at the same time, will create a bad impression).

Apart from that it is essential to think carefully about the length of the artificial nails. Their length depends on your profession and what duties you have during the day. Sometimes you choose longer ones only because they seem nicer, but not being used to them and being overloaded with numerous chores at home, you return to the manicurist two or three days later asking her to shorten the nails. This is an unnecessary expense resulting from not thinking the length of the artificial nails carefully enough over.
Save yourself such unnecessary expenses especially as the applied artificial nail will grow as your natural one does, so soon enough you will have a chance to experience longer nails and how they work for you.
